Independence
Bowl Officials Announce "Kid's Corner
Youth Ticket Donation Program"
July 11,
2006
Shreveport, La. – Independence Bowl officials are pleased
to announce a second ticket initiative in conjunction with the 2006 Independence
Bowl, called the “Kid’s Corner Youth Ticket Donation Program.”
This unique program will pair various social service agencies within the Shreveport-Bossier
community with sponsors such as local businesses and individuals who wish
to purchase tickets and then donate them to the agencies.
This program will give area youth an opportunity to attend the Independence
Bowl. Recipients will be those involved with local organizations such as the
Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal, and
Volunteers of America’s LightHouse, as well as many others.
"The Independence Bowl Foundation, sponsors, and staff are excited to
be able to extend this type of program to the community," said 2006 Independence
Bowl chairwoman Markey Pierre. "Shreveport-Bossier is known for being
a caring community and we believe people from this area will embrace the opportunity
to give back to our local youth."
Each sponsor will be asked to purchase a minimum of 50 tickets and then donate
them to the organization of their choice. Each group will provide its own
transportation to the game, and all ticket recipients will wear a special
t-shirt displaying both their organization’s name or logo and that of
their designated sponsor on gameday.
Two sections in the stadium will be reserved for the “Kid’s Corner”
participants who attend the 31st annual Independence Bowl on Thursday, Dec.
28, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN from Independence
Stadium.
