Patrick Meehan Named Independence Bowl
Media Relations Director

Shreveport, La. – Patrick Meehan has been named media relations director for the Independence Bowl, it was announced by executive director Missy Setters on Wednesday.

Meehan, who joined the bowl staff in August, 2005 as the media relations assistant, assumed his new role when Setters was elevated to executive director in January.

His primary focus will be all public relations aspects of the Independence Bowl, public awareness, publication development, as well as acting as the bowl’s community relations liaison. Meehan, a Shreveport native, came to the Independence Bowl after working one year as the media relations assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Prior to his time at UAB, Meehan worked as a student assistant in the LSU Sports Information Department for more than four years and graduated with a degree in general studies in 2004. He covered various sports while at LSU, including men’s golf, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and women’s soccer. Meehan also served as the secondary contact for the LSU baseball program and assisted with several other sports such as men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s golf.

Meehan has also worked several national and regional events while at LSU and UAB and was a member of the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl media relations staff.
