Independence Bowl Foundation Announces
2006 Leadership

Shreveport, La. – The Independence Bowl Foundation held its annual general membership meeting on Thursday, March 2 and voted on the organization’s new leadership for 2006.

Markey Pierre will serve as the 2006 Independence Bowl Chair and is joined by 12 others who make up the Executive Committee. Joe Darwin will serve as Vice-Chairman, Keith Bergeron as 1st Vice-Chairman, and Toni Goodin as 2nd Vice-Chair.

Pierre is currently a managing partner in the Southern Strategy Group of North Louisiana and Vice President/COO of the Wimbley Construction Company, LLC. She is also one of the most prominent women in the Shreveport-Bossier community, evidenced by her numerous awards and honors such as being voted as one of the “Top 10 Up and Coming Community Leaders by SB Magazine in 2002 and receiving the “Shreveport Young Leader Award” by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce in 1999.

She received a bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University, as well as a post graduate studies degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Pierre also earned a masters degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

“It is indeed an honor to accept such an awesome responsibility as Chairman of the Independence Bowl Foundation,” said Pierre. “This organization has grown tremendously because we have people with big hearts and tremendous talent. I revel in the opportunity to continue the illustrious tradition that has been established by those who came before me and I am truly humbled by the vast amount of support that I have received.”

Linda Sell takes over as Treasurer, Don Scriber as Secretary, and David Nichols stays on as Past Chairman. The other members of the Executive Committee are Mike McCarthy, Shane Dulany, Bobby Nichols, Ross Montelbano, Jim Hagan, and Troy Slinkard.

The Board of Directors for 2006 were also installed at the annual meeting.
