PetroSun became the Independence Bowl's fourth title sponsor on Aug. 21, 2006, as the company agreed to become the bowl's exclusive naming rights partner through 2008. At PetroSun we recognize a rapidly changing global environment - unpredictable climate changes, scarce raw materials, reduction in productive land and explosive population growth - will continue to deplete our finite natural resources. Wordwide dependence on fossil fuels has created a global challenge that extends well into the 21st Century.

PetroSun, through our wholly owned subsidiary PetroSun BioFuels, is committed to becoming a worldwide leader in the development and deployment of renewable energy resources.

Renewable energy technologies are natural energy sources that can supply our needs in a sustainable way, reduce air and water pollution, improve soil quality, minimize erosion, and preserve our precious eco-system. Renewable energy can also increase our energy security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil and improving the lives of individuals through local job creation.MicroAlgae Based Biodiesel Plants such as soybean, jatropha, palm and rapeseed can be used to make biofuels. Although these crops have received a lot of media attention in the last several years, they require intensive management and may not be sustainable in the long term due to rising development and production costs. We believe a different type of oil crop that holds great promise for the future is microalgae.

Extensive research has been conducted to determine the utilization of microalgae as an energy source, with applications being developed for biodiesel, ethanol and aviation fuel. Independent studies have demonstrated that algae is capable of producing in excess of 30 times more oil per acre than corn and soybean crops. Biodiesel produced from algae contains no sulfur, is non-toxic and highly biodegradable.

One of the biggest advantages of biodiesel compared to many other alternative transportation fuels is that it can be used in existing diesel engines, which relieves manufacturers of having to make costly engine modifications. Biodiesel can also be mixed, at any ratio, with conventional petroleum diesel. As a result, the alternative fuel can be used in the current distribution infrastructure, replacing petroleum diesel either wholly, or as a diesel fuel blend with minimal integration costs.

PetroSun’s oil and gas division will continue its exploartion and development program under the guidance of Dr. John Templin. The focus during 2008 will be on our leaseholds in Arizona, New Mexico, Louisiana and Austrailia. The public is invited to visted our new exploration offices at 7330 Fern Avenue, Suite 203 in Shreveport.

Three generations of energy experience hasn’t changed us…while we continue to embrace the spirit of exploration, we appreciate our roots. It’s made us who we are... a different kind of energy company. For more information on PetroSun products and services or partnership opportunities please contact us.
