A Look Back at the "Show Your Independence" Art Contest

Before Ohio and ULM took to the gridiron in Independence Stadium this past December, the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl gave elementary school students in Caddo and Bossier Parish school districts an opportunity to win free tickets to the game.

The Bowl introduced the “Show Your Independence” Art Contest to give local elementary school students an opportunity to win four tickets to the 2012 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl by creating a picture of what the word “independence” means to them.

More than 200 winners were chosen from each grade level at participating schools. The winners received tickets for them and their families to attend the game, plus their artwork was put on display in the south end zone concourse of Independence Stadium.

Additionally, the school districts gathered all of the winners’ artwork and selected overall district winners from each grade level. The district winners received special recognition on the DiamondVision during the game.

LearningRx and CiCi’s Pizza on Youree Dr. sponsored the “Show Your Independence” Art Contest. The winners received prizes from LearningRx and a free buffet from CiCi’s.

Paragon Press printed the contest paper for more than 20,000 elementary school students.
