Shreveport, La. – The 2012 AdvoCare V100™ Independence Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, Dec. 28th from Independence Stadium and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

The I-Bowl will be played on Dec. 28th for the sixth time in history and first since 2009. Dec. 28th is the most frequented playing date in I-Bowl history along with Dec. 31th as the game has been played seven times on New Year’s Eve and six times on Dec. 28th prior to this December. The I-Bowl was televised on ESPN2 the past three years.

“As the 2012 AdvoCare V100™ Independence Bowl date is announced, excitement for game day has grown even more. We’re proud to partner with the Independence Bowl organization for the fourth consecutive year and looking forward to another great match up in Shreveport!” AdvoCare President and CEO Richard Wright said.

ESPN will televise the game for the 21st-straight year after signing an eight-year extension in 2010, which will guarantee the game will be on the network through 2017. ESPN first televised the Independence Bowl in 1992, bringing Wake Forest’s 39–35 victory over Oregon to a nationwide audience, and the game has since become a fixture on ESPN’s “Bowl Week”.

“We are pleased to be the kickoff game of what promises to be a great day for college football,” said 2012 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl Chairman Jack Andres “We believe this early afternoon time slot right in the middle of the Christmas and New Year holidays will appeal to both our local fans and those traveling to the Shreveport-Bossier City area to support their teams.”

Individual ticket prices are $47 for sideline and $37 for south end zone and now $25 for north end zone seats.

Military tickets can be purchased by active military personnel in person at the Bowl Office for a special discounted price of $32 for south end zone and $42 for sideline bench seats. Those wishing to donate tickets to the military can do so at those same prices.

This year fans can take advantage of an Early-Bird special on sideline bench tickets. Tickets in this area can be purchased for $42 until Aug. 31.

The AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl has revised several of its ticket packages this year. The “Johnny’s Catfish and Seafood Family 4-Pack”, All-In Zone, Touchdown Club, and Patriot Pack offer fans a chance to save money for their group outing to the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl.

The “Johnny’s Catfish and Seafood Family 4-Pack” is a ticket package which includes four sideline bench tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks, and a Blue Lot parking pass and a voucher for a souvenir game program all for only $196. The ticket package also includes a “Johnny’s Catfish Family Pack”, a $20 value. This saves fans more than $70 off of the regular price.

The Touchdown Club is a ticket package specially designed for larger groups. This package includes 10 south end zone tickets, and 10 shuttle tickets for $380, which saves fans $50 off the normal price.

The Patriot Pack includes a group of 20 seats in the north end zone or sidelines respectively plus shuttle tickets and recognition at the game for your business or large group. Patriot Pack members also get an invitation to the annual Team Announcement Party in December. Stay tuned for more information on ticket packages throughout the year.

Also available again this year is the All-In Zone package. The All-In Zone is a $60 ticket in the south end zone which includes an all-you-can eat voucher for hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, water, and chips throughout the game.

The Kid’s Corner Youth Ticket Initiative allows businesses and individuals the opportunity to donate 25 or more tickets to a youth-oriented non-profit organization of their choice, such as the YMCA, Volunteers of America, or Boys and Girls Club. This program is also a great way for youth groups to sit together at the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl in a fun and safe environment.
